We have had a lot of questions and some confusion regarding money for this reunion.  We were going to wait a few months before even bringing it up, but we thought it would be better to clarify right now since it is a topic of conversation.

We need to raise an additional $1500 to put on this reunion.  The truth of the matter is that we have a large family.  Many of us would like options other than camping.  Many of us don't want to have another reunion at Grandma and Grandpa's house. It was fun, but its time for a new location.

So to meet those requests, this is what we've found.  An amazing location that has 8 bedrooms, countless bathrooms, several kitchens as well as a large main kitchen, and lots of gathering space.  You want to bring an RV? They can accommodate for free!  Want to camp? Go ahead, lots of grassy areas for free!  Feel like a sleepover in the gym?  Again, free!   Many of the places that we contacted were charging extra for these services.

We all just need to kick in a little bit more money.

Just in case you worry that this amazing place isn't as amazing as we think it is, we have had Wendy, Jeff and Linzy tour it for us. If you have specific questions, give them a call.  They can give you an idea of what they saw.

Alyson had the awesome idea of designing a shirt. She thought that people might appreciate the ability to donate money, but still receive something (besides an awesome reunion) in return. These t-shirts are awesome, but not required for the reunion.  Alyson even mentioned that she would be willing to send people the digital file for the t-shirt if you wanted to have it printed yourself at a cheaper price.  I think that is very generous considering this is a one of a kind shirt that she designed herself. If she does send you the digital file, please consider donating an additional amount to reimburse her hard work. However, that is up to you.

The t-shirt is one option for donation.  Another option is to just give straight money.

Donate the amount you feel comfortable with.  For you poor college students, I would love to get $20 as much as any other amount of money. 

Look at it this way. We are housing you and your family, entertaining you, and feeding you for 3-4 days. How much is that worth to you?

I just want to clarify:

Guys, I've had some feedback from you all about the t-shirts I made. Some of you have mentioned  that the shirts are too expensive. I thought it might be helpful to break the cost down for you:

$10 of the sale of every shirt and sweatshirt goes to our family reunion fund. So just to demonstrate, my family has an order all written up for 7 t-shirts and 1 sweatshirt (all different styles and colors). Our total cost is $199. Out of that cost, the shirts and sweatshirts are actually about $119 and we are donating about $80 to the fund.

I hope that helps put it into perspective. Keep in mind that you can just donate money if you don't want a t-shirt. I like to feel like I'm getting something in return, and yes we are getting an awesome family reunion in return, but this is a bonus everyday, wear anywhere t-shirt.
